For many, a marriage ceremony is religious in nature and celebrates not only the joining of husband and wife but also the faith of the couple. Planning a wedding is something that can take months, which is why it is important to begin as early as possible. Here are some wedding planning ideas to get your creativity flowing:

Setting a date is the first thing you need to do. The season in which you decide to tie the knot can definitely come into play when planning various aspects of your wedding. For example, a spring wedding could incorporate spring flowers like daisies and tulips. Great colors for a spring wedding include pale pastels and shades from nature such as grass green. For summer, you could choose a theme such as tropical island or beach which uses bright blooms and decorations such as seashells. Fall is a great time to use deeper colors and heartier menu items. For fall, you could go with a pumpkin flavored wedding cake frosted with faux autumn leaves. Winter is a great season for a holiday theme wedding or one that features elements like sparkling crystal and snowflakes.

You will need to acquire a location once you have chosen a date and have some ideas about the theme and colour scheme of your wedding. You could go for a traditional church ceremony or do something more casual, such as a ceremony in a backyard or at a park. Destination weddings are also popular. Many couples marry on the beach or even in Las Vegas! After choosing the location, it's time to select and send out the invitations. Your invitations should contain all the pertinent information about where and when the wedding will be held, specify a dress code, and feature something related to your wedding colors or wedding theme.

It is helpful to browse through bridal magazines for good wedding planning ideas. Get a notebook specifically for wedding ideas and jot down anything you think of. You may want to make a timeline for the planning process which outlines what aspects will be handled at what time. Hiring a wedding planner can also be very helpful, but can get costly. Some brides like working with a professional planner, while others enjoy handling the planning on their own. The planning of your big day is something that may be stressful at times but should also be an enjoyable experience!
